Act like a lady and think like a man…

Two thumbs up for the movie ‘Think like a Man”!

With an amazing cast including Kevin Hart, Jerry Ferrara, Gabrielle Union, Taraji P Henson, Michael Ealy, Meagan Good, Regina Hall and many others with a cameo appearance by author/comedian Steve Harvey, this movie was on point. Director Tim Story successfully managed to bring life to Steve Harvey’s self-help style book ‘Act like a lady Think like a man’.

As I watched the movie, I reflected on conversations I’ve had with my girlfriends over the years about guys and ‘what’s wrong with them’. The one thing that really resonated with me from both the movie and the book is the point that men are simple creatures. Now I don’t mean simple as in unintelligent I mean simple as in their intentions are not complicated.  I really believe us ladies can’t help but read more into a situation then there is. It’s similar to solving a riddle like this.

It’s greater than GOD.
More cruel than devil.
The poor have it.
The rich need it.
And if you eat it, you’ll die.

What is it?

Answer: Nothing.

We sometimes read way more into a matter than there really is.  With that said, I think men need to understand that most women have been raised this way and can’t help it.  When we were younger, boys often played with cars.  What did they do with these cars?  They drove.  They pushed the hot wheel around with one goal – just drive.  When girls played, we often played house or school and played with dolls.  What happened in the house? We went shopping, we cooked our plastic food or Easy Bake oven (if you were lucky), we had tea parties, we had to take care of the baby dolls we had a full day while the boys just drove around.

The one thing we need to accept – men and women are different and always will be.  If you’re in a relationship and things are not going right – don’t be afraid to accept what is or what you’re being shown and move on?  Believe me, if you were meant to be with this person, you will know and feel it in your heart.

One piece of very wise advice I received from a friend’s mother was “Never let someone tell you to leave them alone more than once.”  They may not say it out right but actions always speak louder than words. They may be telling you one thing but their actions are the true indicator of their intentions.

Just know, when someone is pushing you away – don’t try to hold on…they are actually doing you a favour that you may not know or be able to see yet. This is applicable to all types of relationships, be it romantic, friendship or other.  Remove all toxic relationships and people from your life.  They just hold you back from your true potential.

You will find happiness when you’re happy with yourself.  That’s how the Law of Attraction works! Send out positive vibrations and positivity will come back to you.

If time waits for no one, why should you?  No one is better than ‘time’.  It’s truly the one thing that keeps going even when we’re gone.

Beyoncé’s song “Best thing I never had” helped me get through a difficult relationship decision which I see now was definitely for the best.
