I’ve been a reggae fan forever. With my father being an avid music lover we always had all types of music playing in the house. There are some songs that take me back to a time in my life. Bob Marley always makes me think of family reunions as a few tracks from Bob Marley and the Wailers would always be played at all family functons, in addition to Calypso and Soca of course. You’re guaranteed to hear the Mighty Sparrow if you grow up with Trini and Grenadian parents.
As I matured, I always had an attachment to reggae and in my teens I fell in love with Dancehall reggae and all it had to offer. For years after I would attend many stage shows featuring Beenie Man, Bounty Killa, Elephant Man and the Scare Dem Crew and the list goes on.
This January, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to attend the Jamaican Jazz Festival taking place in Montego Bay, JA. Many artists will be performing including: Jully Black, Celine Dion, Kelly Rowland, Destra Garcia and many more. I can barely contain my excitement!!
This event has inspired the following:
The stage is set. The time is now. They’re ready for the show.
In the background, the sun goes down with a sensational glow.
The sands are white, the trees are swaying and there’s something in the air.
The fans wait patiently in their seats. It’s more excitement than one can bear.
The band comes in and drops a beat, the fans are ready for the first track.
Out comes the lady they’ve all been waiting for, it’s her, it’s Ms. Jully Black!
She comes out and tears up the stage with a style like no other.
She’s not alone, Celine Dion, Kelly Rowland and Destra Garcia are all killin’ it together!
The crowd is awestruck and elated with the talent before their eyes.
All these women are beautiful souls with limits that extend well beyond the skies!
